Geothermal drilling operations
The ambient temperatures found at certain depths, limit geothermal drilling operations because the generally available electronics doesn’t handle those temperatures. This limitation can now be surpassed by using TranSiC’s power transistors as they tolerate very high temperatures whilst preserving other important properties such as required reliability, robustness and power efficiency.

 

Oil & Gas down hole drilling
The Oil & Gas Industry is driven to drill deeper in order to access new reservoirs. The environment at these depths requires electronics that can satisfactorily withstand very high ambient temperature levels. TranSiC’s power transistors make it possible to construct solutions that enable the Oil & Gas Industry to access these harder-to-reach resources.
 

 

Motor electronics
There are applications for control of motors and engines, requiring high temperature electronics.  There is a trend towards more electrification of this kind of systems, and to remove long cabling by adding electronics close to the source or actuator. As the environment for those systems exhibit high temperatures, TranSiC’s power transistor is an optimal solution. A higher operational temperature also enables further miniaturization and decrease of weight in these systems.
